Tart Cherry and Sweet Cherry Concentrate

Can you drink cherry juice concentrate hot?

Tru2U Cherry Juice Concentrates are packed full of antioxidants which support many health benefits. Heat destroys these antioxidants so it is best to keep the juice cold.

This is also why we also recommend keeping Tru2U Cherry Juice in the fridge whenever possible to preserve the anti-oxidants (including melatonin) as much as possible, however 7-10 days out of the fridge is absolutely fine.

Freezing the concentrate prolongs the shelf life of the juice, and it is pourable from the freezer.

Do I have to dilute my cherry concentrate?

Most people enjoy diluting their Tart or Sweet Cherry Concentrate at a ratio of about 1 parts juice concentrate to 7 parts water.

However there is no reason you need to dilute it with water - enjoy it straight as a concentrated shot, mix it with another fruit juice, fruit puree or lemonade, or even pour the concentrate over yoghurt or icecream - delicious!

As long as you don't mix it with anything hot, what you dilute it with doesn't seem to change the effectiveness of the juice - heat will oxidise the all important antioxidants such as melatonin, so only have it cold.

If you have a particularly sensitive stomach, straight tart cherry concentrate on an empty tummy might be a little too acid for some people.

What is the difference between the Single Strength and the Double Strength concentrates?

The Double Strength Sleep Support Tart Cherry is the economical option if you are just focused on sleep. The Double Strength has double the phytomelatonin (plant based sleep hormone) of our Original Strength Sleep Support, so you take less juice to gain the same sleep benefits.

The Double Strength is a two month supply for one person.

The Original Strength Sleep Support Tart Cherry is best if you also want antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, as you take more of the juice.

Can I use cherry juice concentrates if I am Pregnant or Breastfeeding?

Tru2U Sleep Support Tart and Sweet Cherry Juice Concentrates are 100% pure and natural and after ten years of marketing in New Zealand and decades of research, we have no reason to be concerned about them being enjoyed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The antioxidants also offer effective support for good health for your baby.

There are absolutely no additives, no preservatives, no artificial sweeteners or added sugar, no colouring agents.

There is nothing added to the juice, it naturally contains phytomelatonin (melatonin from a plant source) which supports regular sleep patterns for a quality and restorative sleep.

If you are unsure, please consult with your healthcare practitioner.

Can I take cherry juice concentrates and other medications at the same time?

All our research and experience has given us no reason to be concerned about taking medications (including sleeping pills) with Tru2U products.

The only caution we have is warfarin as it is such an aggressive blood thinner. Consult your practitioner about how to take both together.

In most cases, taking a regular amount of cherry concentrate at a regular time every day has a nice consistent effect on blood thinning, and so can be allowed for by your practitioner when planning your medication.

I am Diabetic, can I use the Tru2U's cherry juice concentrates?

Tru2U Cherry Juice is Low GI (Glycemic Index) with a rating of 54, making it suitable for many diabetics.

It contains no additives, preservatives, artificial sweeteners or added sugar.

A serving of cherry juice may be split into two or three small servings spaced out over an hour before bedtime.

If you are unsure, please contact your health practitioner.

Do Tru2U cherry juice concentrates need to be refrigerated?

Yes, Tru2U Cherry Juice needs to be kept in the fridge whenever possible, even when unopened.

We recommend that your bottle is used within 8-10 weeks of opening - if you are going to take longer than this to use the bottle (e.g. when a child is the only user) we recommend that you make up about 4 days supply in a jug and keep the rest of the concentrate in the freezer. The concentrate will not freeze solid, remaining pourable from the freezer.

Keeping your Tru2U Cherry Juice in the freezer preserves the antioxidants and other nutritional properties of the juice.

Can Tru2U cherry juice concentrates upset the Stomach?

In some people, even though the concentrate is alkalising in the body, the acidity of the juice may upset the stomach.

We recommend mixing it with natural yoghurt or fruit puree, which helps buffer the acidity of the juice.

Can Babies and Children take Tru2U cherry juice concentrates?

Tru2u Children's Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate is 100% pure and natural, with no additives, no preservatives, artificial sweeteners or added sugar.

Tru2U Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate has a sweet-tart taste and is produced from montmorency tart cherries.

Tru2U Sweet Cherry Concentrate is also 100% pure and natural, with no additives, no preservatives, artificial sweeteners or added sugar.

The Sweet Cherry actually has a little less sugar content than the Tart Cherry, and has a soft velvety taste which is particularly appealing to children and those with a sweet tooth.

Cherries contain naturally occuring phytonutrients, necessary to support regular and restful sleep, as well as potent antioxidants also necessary to support healthy joints in babies, children and teenagers.

Babies must have consumed solids and other juices for 2 months - reduce serving size according to body weight.

Please refer to our brochure for recommended serving sizes and more information - each of our product listings on this website have a link to the appropriate brochure.

What is the concentration of Tru2U Tart Cherry Juice?

Tru2U Tart Cherry Juice is concentrated to 68 brix, which refers to the natural sugar levels and ensures that it is stable.

This is the most accurate measure of concentration. Other measures such as weight or number of cherries are not as accurate as the size of the cherries and the percentage of water in the cherries at the time of production can vary significantly.

This can make a substantial difference to the nutritional content of the concentrate.

What is the concentration of Tru2U Sweet Cherry Juice?

Where is Tru2U Tart Cherry Juice made?

Tru2U Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate is made from Montmorency Tart Cherries, sourced from several orchards in Europe.

The cool climate and geographic conditions are conducive to producing cherries with the high levels of naturally occuring phytomelatonin and anthocyanin antioxidants.

The concentrate is shipped to us here in Christchurch (New Zealand) whilst frozen, and stored frozen until it is ready to be bottled using our proprietary process to ensure maximum protection of the antioxidants.

Every batch is independently tested for over 200 agricultural residues to ensure there are no herbicides or pesticides.

Once bottled the concentrate is immediately frozen until it is ready to be dispatched. Our concentrate is sent out frozen on an overnight courier to further ensure quality.

Cherries also contain at least 17 antioxidants such as egallic acid, p-coumaric acid, kaempferol and quercetin that support the immune system.

Is Tru2U Tart Cherry Alkaline or Acid?

Although Tru2U Tart Cherry Juice is mildly acidic, it is similar to lemon juice in that it appears to have an alkalising effect on the body when consumed.

Does Tru2U Tart Cherry contain Sorbitol?

Tru2U Tart Cherry Juice does contain some Sorbitol which may aggravate symptoms for people with sensitive digestive systems.

Cherries contain less sorbitol than pears so those that can tolerate pears or pear juice should be able to enjoy Tru2U Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate.

Flaxseed Oils

How is Tru2U Flaxseed Oil different from Fish Oil?

Tru2U Flaxseed Oil contains the true essential Omega-3, alpha linolenic acid (ALA) an essential fatty acid from plant source, not found in fish oil.

For the body to function, it needs ALL of the Omega 3's - ALA, EPA and DHA.

In healthy people the body converts ALA to EPA and DHA. EPA and DHA are the Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish. Fish eat plants and algae which contain ALA's, and then converts the ALA to EPA and DHA in their bodies.

Fish oils do not contain ALA.

Flaxseed Oil does not contain mercury, which some fish may.

A quality Flaxseed Oil such as ours does not use chemical processes such as bleaching and deodorising, which may damage the oil.

Tru2U's Flaxseed Oil is unrefined and cold pressed without heat or light, to ensure quality without oxidation - no 'burpy' after taste!

Flaxseed Oil is a sustainable crop grown in Canterbury, New Zealand.

Can I use Tru2U Flax Seed Oil for Cooking?

Cooking with Tru2U Flax Seed Oil will destroy many of the nutritional benefits of the flax seed oil and will oxidise the omega-3, which is actively bad for you!

It is fine to drizzle flax seed oil over hot food or toss through hot dishes, but we strongly recommend you do not use it for cooking.
